Anti-prohibitionism is based on two fundamental concepts.

The first regards self-determination and the capacity of individuals to choose what is good and bad for themselves and their bodies, provided this choice entails no harm to others. The second regards the experimental view that any behaviour and consumption likely to cause harm is easier to control and prevent under a legalised regime than when banned.

These two principles mutually reinforce one another and can  be used effectively to argue for public policies oriented towards the legalisation of practices such as drug use, prostitution and gambling.
